“I Was Chosen”: A Story of Love, Identity, and Belonging

One of our birth mothers once asked her daughter, “Have you ever felt any resentment about being adopted?” For years, this mother had quietly carried a deep sense of guilt.

Her daughter responded with grace and warmth:

“Because of the way my adoptive parents raised me—their teachings, their values—I never felt angry or resentful about my adoption. I've always known, through our religious beliefs, that I was chosen. More importantly, I've always felt completely supported and loved by them.”

This heartfelt exchange reminds us that parenting is more than care—it's about creating a foundation of love, identity, and trust. It shows how powerfully a child can be shaped by the emotional security and values they grow up with.

This adoptee grew up feeling wanted, cherished, and rooted in who she is. Through faith and unwavering love, her adoptive parents built a home that gave her a lifelong sense of belonging.

Let this story inspire us to reflect: What values are we living by? How are we passing them on—not just in what we say, but in the way we show up every day, with love, consistency, and purpose?
