Echoes of Memory

It is such a privilege to see our grown-up adoptees. Although we are not their biological family, we feel deeply rewarded to witness how beautifully they’ve grown.

Our hearts often go out to those adoptees who carry childhood memories shaped by the circumstances of their birth families. Some share just how much they remember.

One adoptee, in particular, recalls the music that played when the trash truck came—an everyday sound that brought back vivid memories of his time in Taiwan. Though the music evokes both good and painful recollections, we were moved that he felt safe enough to share his experience with us.

It reminded us of the powerful words of the great American poet Maya Angelou:
“I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.”

We hope that, as time passes, the pain of his past will gently fade, and the good memories will remain close to his heart.
